Treatment of landslide Hazard zone of Saknidhar

Treatment of landslide Hazard zone of Saknidhar - P-11 Treatment of landslide Hazard zone of Saknidhar p-11(3)

In 2018, we successfully completed a project to treat the landslide hazard zone at Saknidhar, the sinking zone at Devprayag, and the river bank protection at Srinagar, all located on the Rishikesh-Rudraprayag section of National Highway 58 in Uttarakhand. This project, which was the first of its kind to be executed in EPC mode in Uttarakhand under the NH PWD Srinagar, was undertaken to address the frequent landslides that had been occurring in these areas and to improve the safety and reliability of this important roadway.

The total length of the project was 1100 meters, with the Saknidhar landslide protection spanning 200 meters, the Devprayag sinking zone covering 200 meters, and the Srinagar river bank protection extending for 700 meters. These locations are situated along NH-58, a busy route that is heavily traveled due to the Chardham yatra and that serves as the main connection between the capital of Uttarakhand and the various districts in the Garhwal Mandal and Kumaon regions.

The work to treat the landslide hazard zone at Saknidhar involved the use of geotextile fabrics and other materials to stabilize the slope and prevent further landslides, as well as the construction of retaining walls and other structural supports. Similarly, the sinking zone at Devprayag was addressed through the use of similar techniques and technologies. Finally, the river bank protection work at Srinagar involved the construction of retaining walls and other measures to protect the river bank from erosion and other damage.

Overall, this project was a major undertaking that required a high level of expertise and attention to detail. We are proud to have.
